NASULI Spring Resort | Bangcud, Malaybalay City, Bukidnon, Philippines

At the entrance gate of NASULI Spring Resort
It was a dizzy and lazy Thursday afternoon of December 8, 2010, when we visited the NASULI Spring Resort of Malaybalay City, together with 2 Bukidnon Bloggers, the Bukidnon Photo Journal and my kumpare who is still formulating his blogsite.

This humble spring resort is located Northwest of Barangay Bangcud proper or the road intersection going to Barangay Simaya of the same City. When we arrived at the gate, a caretaker whose name is Manong Ben Areval, warmly greeted and welcomed us to the resort. We paid 10 pesos as an entrance fee and he said that the 10 pesos that we paid to him will be used for the maintenance of the resort. I was struck with his statement and made me more excited to see the spring resort. We looked around and took some shots from the entrance of the resort. During a short minute discussion, we discovered that this resort was already turned-over to the Ducusin Family of Malaybalay City, which was previously managed by foreigners. According to the source, allegedly, the 12 hectares property, which also covered the famed NASULI Spring Resort is now for sale at P60.00 MM or more or less P500 per square meter. Part of the selling package is the landing strip.

Lake Apo | Guinoyoran, Valencia City, Bukidnon, Philippines

Lake Apo of Valencia City, Bukidnon, Philippines :

Lake Apo is a circular rift lake found in Barangay Guinoyoran, Valencia City, Bukidnon province in the Philippines. It is dubbed as cleanest and greenest inland body of water in Northern Mindanao. It has an estimated area of 24 hectares (0.24 square kilometers) reaching to a depth of 26 meters or 80-90 feet.

The name of the lake come from the Filipino term "apo," meaning elder or grandparent. According to legend there was a man living in the mountains who raped his granddaughter and was punished by the mountain deities for his disrespectful act by flooding the area forming the Lake Apo.

Geologically, the lake was formed due to the movement of the Earth's crust, creating a circular-shaped lake atop the mountain floor.

Ground approaching the lake's bank

In 1991, Mt. Pinatubo erupted, and tagged as the most active Volcano in the Philippines today according to the PHIVOLCS. After years from eruption, the crater became a crater lake and now one of the tourists attractions in the Region (Zambales, Pampanga and Tarlac provinces). Landmarks in Cagayan de Oro City | Limketkai & Sons Milling Corporation

Great structures are also great landmarks, like in the compound of the Limketkai Milling Corporation in Cagayan de Oro City. All I can remember about this rare structure is that it became a landmark in the City since early 1980s. As you can see, those steel containers were approximately less than 10% of its size each container as compare to that concrete cylindrical formed structures. The technical term of this structure is a concrete cylindrical silo with 10-12 storey high or roughly 36-40 meters in height in terms of meters. Imagine that height  of a building / structure in CDO City, which until now, this structure is still uniquely and incomparably built in this City.

Today, when you travel bound to Davao City or vice versa to Cagayan de Oro City and you've not been here in Maramag for quite some time, here's an update for you. Maramag has a new Bus Terminal. This new terminal has 12 bays and the biggest terminal ever in Bukidnon, today. I got this snapshots for you to be refreshed and to give you a picture of the new development of Maramag. Aside from the Bus Terminal, below are another food court building and public market building.
To give you some ideas of its completion. The project accomplishment is approximately at 80-90%. As you can see, they are now in the stage of the installation of the drainage system along the periphery of the food court and the public market buildings.

Lake Napalit of Barangay Pigtauranan, Pangantucan, Bukidnon | One of the Forgotten Potential Tourist Spots in Bukidnon

NAPALIT LAKE or LAKE NAPALIT, has 36 hectares in terms of area and seventy eight feet deep lake. A lake located in Barangay Pigtauranan, Pangantucan, and at the foot of the Kalatungan Mountains. It stands out because of its twenty-four floating islets of varying sizes, the biggest of which is 50 feet wide. Those islets float around the lake parallel to the direction of the wind. The locals here utilized the lake as their natural laundry area. They also bathe themselves along the banks of the said lake.
I've got a snap shots on this Lake during one of our task force appraisal updates on one of our cooperative accounts here in Bukidnon, together with my co-blogger, the owner of the Bukidnon Photo Journal Mr. Earl Bolivar.

I have been here several times but luckily I've got snapshots on this place because of good weather condition. This place was already featured by the Department of Tourism but noticed that they haven't got some snapshots.

This is your travel guide :

Barangay Barandias of the same town, Pangantucan,  is a crossroad bound for Kalilangan and Talakag, Bukidnon----the lake is about 10 kilometers from the said barangay. Do not worry about the road condition since the access is now an all-weather or gravelled-surface road. It  is already well maintained by the LGU. Hopefully that this spot shall soon be developed by the LGU.

Gaisano Mall | Malaybalay City, Bukidnon, Philippines

This is really one of the rare chances in our life witnessing our place had this kind of development, a big development, the expansion of the Gaisano Mall here in Malaybalay City. I came from the City of Friendship, landed a job in the City of the Skycrapers (Makati City) and settled in the City of the Forest (the Malaybalay City) in 1995.

In this same year, Gaisano was already established here in Malaybalay, after they bought the property from one of the prominent figures here. Almost fifteen years had passed, Gaisano Mall started their branch total renovation, or more than 5 times bigger of the former, in the first quarter of last year. This does means that Malaybalay City is really that booming after it became a City in 1998 or roughly 11 years.

A quick glance of the History : In February 11, 1998, it became a component city by virtue of Republic Act 8490 , approved by former President Fidel Ramos, and under the administration of former Mayor Nicolas Jurolan, who served Malaybalay from 1992-2001.
These photos were taken at a different time slot.  In November 10, 2009, it was in the afternoon, when I bought our medicine for home consumption at a nearby pharmacy.

Mount Kitanglad | A Stunning View

Mt. Kitanglad is the fourth highest mountain in the Philippines.

Kitanglad is an inactive  volcano located in the Kitanglad Mountain Range in Bukidnon province on Mindanao island. It is officially declared as the fourth highest mountain in the Philippines and has an approximate height of 2,899 meters.  It is located between Malaybalay City and the municipalities of Lantapan, Impasug-ong, Sumilao, and Libona.

The name "Kitanglad" was derived from a legend that there was once a great flood that submerged the native lands of Bukidnon and only the tip of the mountain, the size of a "tanglad" (lemon grass), remained visible ("kita" in Tagalog). It is considered as an ancestral domain of several old cultural communities like the Bukidnons, Higaonons and Talaandigs.

Mount Kitanglad was proclaimed a protected area under the natural park category through Presidential Proclamation 896 dated October 24, 1996. On November 9, 2000, Mt. Kitanglad finally became a full-pledge protected area when Congress approved R.A. 8978 also known as the Mt. Kitanglad Range Protected Area Act of 2000.

In 2009, Mount Kitanglad Range Natural Park (MKRNP) was declared as an ASEAN Heritage Park.
Kitanglad Mountain Range is a mountain range that dominates the northern central portion of the province of Bukidnon. It occupies portions of eight of the municipalities and cities in the province such as Talakag, Baungon, Libona, Manolo Fortich, Impasug-ong, Lantapan and Malaybalay City. The range is one of the few remaining rainforests in the Philippines, hosting one of the most important diverse species of rare and endemic wildlife such as the Philippine Eagle. Five of its peaks have very high elevations: Mount Dulang-dulang, the highest at 2,938 meters; Mount Kitanglad at 2,899 meters; Mount Maagnaw at 2,742 meters; Mount Lumuluyaw at 2,612 meters; and Mount Tuminungan at 2,400 meters.

The whole range was declared a national park by virtue of Presidential Proclamation No. 677 on December 4, 1990 known as the Mount Kitanglad Range Natural Park. In 1994, it was chosen as one of the 10 priority sites under the World Bank through the Conservation of Priority Protected Areas Project. Mount Kitanglad and its outlying area was proclaimed a protected area under the natural park category through Presidential Proclamation 896 dated October 24, 1996. On November 9, 2000, the park finally became a full-pledge protected area when Congress approved R.A. 8978 also known as the Mt. Kitanglad Range Protected Area Act of 2000. (courtesy of Wikipedia)
The famous spot of the Mount Kitanglad-"The Triple Ridge View". Please give some credit to the author if you will use this tag, "The Triple Ridge View" and for the photos. That's how I named this spot and I already covered that in my article during my study in The University of the Philippines Open University which was just culminated last October 2010.

For so many attempts that I've been trying to take some shots on this legendary mountain of Bukidnon, at last, a good timing with the weather condition set foot favorably on me during one of my travels to Cagayan de Oro City, just this November 2010.

This is our remaining watershed. Let us continue to support the protection program. Lets us bear this in our mind always, "Its better to lose the electricity/power, than to lose the water which is the source of life".

Panagatan | Sea Side Restaurant, Opol, Misamis Oriental, Philippines

The word "Panagatan" is a cebuano dialect that means a fishing ground or a fish-catching  site. After an exhaustive travel from Bukidnon, where we undertake a tedious appraisal works on the properties of one of the business tycoons in Cagayan de Oro City last Wednesday at the Macabalan area, me and my partner decided to try a seafood restaurant here in the said City for our lunch break. I havn't tried this place before, thinking for a  unique  food experience,  craving also to eat seafood these days, and I'll  have to try a different setting of a restaurant where I could see the ocean view. So, we tried to scout the place in Opol, Misamis Oriental where this sea side restaurant is located. Surprisingly, my office colleague was already been here some years back.
Packed with point and shoot camera, after we disembarked from the service vehicle, I then took some shots of the place. Here are some of the selected photo shots in this Sea Side Restaurant of Opol, Misamis Oriental, Philippines.

Though I am not so familiar in covering this kind of event, but I took this very rare chances to document this event as a start of my blogging and passion in photography.

Dahilayan Adventure Park : Stop Over for Lunch-"Pinutos sa Kanto"

Barangay San Miguel, Manolo Fortich can be seen along our way to Davao or Cagayan de Oro City. This little barangay has a little secret especially on food that you can be proud of once you taste it.

It is in "Pinutos sa Kanto" or in English, "Take Out Corner"---in my own interpretation.

Dahilayan Adventure Park-Trip and Treat-Part 1

Del Monte Philippines, Inc.- Manolo Fortich-------This is what you will witness if you are going to Dahilayan Adventure Park, a part of the vast track of land of pineapple plantation of  Del Monte Philippines. It is located at Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon. The other plantation areas were being spread like in the Camp Phillips, Libona, all of the province of Bukidnon.

A month ago, last October, I've been thinking on what gift would I give to my wife as her birthday presents---and it should be unique from her previous birthdays. I opened up to my  kids about the idea on visiting Dahilayan, right away the idea  was affirmed because of the Zip Line, except of my little girl who was so afraid of the height.

Personally, I have fear of height, in spite of being a Civil Engineer. When my wife told me that I have to conquer the fear of height, I never gave her a straight answer on it. Instead, answered her that a Trip and Treat to Dahilayan would be the best idea as my gift. My wife never showed any hesitation with the idea, a sign of fear on her part, but a sign of enthusiasm to conquer her fear by trying another level of her life -----to conquer the longest dual zip line in ASIA.
